What are Shareholder Rewards?

Shareholder rewards, also called shareholder perks or stock perks, are benefits offered by publicly traded companies people who own their stock as a way to strengthen the bond between the company and retail shareholder.

The idea of shareholder perks has been around nearly as long as stock ownership, but finding those benefits, proving stock ownership and redeeming the rewards has been nearly impossible. All that changed with TiiCKER, a platform that connects retail shareholders with stock perks.

TiiCKER creates the connection. TiiCKER serves both the retail shareholder and the companies offering the perks, creating a single place where investors can safely and securely connect their brokerage accounts and immediately see what perks they are eligible to receive. For publicly traded companies, TiiCKER vets the shareholder, making sure they own the minimum number of shares to be eligible for the reward and have met any holding period requirements.

TiiCKER pioneered the shareholder reward platform as a way to connect investors with perks and create meaningful connections between shareholders and the companies they already know and love. As a shareholder, not only should you benefit from the company’s financial and operational performance, but you should also be rewarded in other ways. Hundreds of perks are already available to retail shareholders on TiiCKER.

These shareholder perks can include offering products and services, or discounts, to investors that are currently invested in the stock. While most investors are focused on the financial benefits of owning a stock, like its price increase or being paid a dividend, they also tend to invest in companies they know and respect. Public companies that do not offer perks are missing out on a key opportunity to connect with this important group of investors.

TiiCKER makes rewarding retail shareholders easy. And for companies that currently do now offer shareholder rewards, TiiCKER’s experts can help craft a stock perk program that delivers results.

Shareholder rewards often include: discounts on products or services sold by the company; gift cards that reward loyalty; valuable coupons on the company’s products or services; company merchandise; early access to new products; and experiential and exclusive shareholder-only events. The value of the stock perks are often proportional to the amount of stock owned.

Shareholder rewards are granted to those who qualify based on factors including shares held, value of shares held or portfolio value. There is occasionally a holding period to prevent investors from buying the shareholder perk and selling the shares right away. The TiiCKER platform does all the vetting.

Most importantly, stock perks work for both retail shareholders and publicly traded companies. In fact, 80% of retail investors say being a shareholder makes them more likely to buy that company’s products and 77% of retail investors would be more likely to buy stock in a company that offers a shareholder perk, according to a recent national poll of over 2,000 consumers, commissioned by TiiCKER and conducted online by The Harris Poll.

Shareholder rewards are a way companies can connect to retail investors and for retail investors to gain additional value for the stocks they own. TiiCKER is a platform where that connection happens.
